THE CRITICS
The
travesty of a relationship in [The
Corner House] contrasts with the
affectionate couple portrayed in another, unusually gentle yet
effective story, The Call.
(But as Jack Adrian informs us in the collection The
Face, The
Call appeared in the 1926 issue of The
Radio Times, the week before Christmas.
This might explain its mellower, almost-feel-good flavour!)
